Unlocking a new digital presence for The Escapologist Escape Rooms

Designing and developing a new bespoke e-commerce website for The Escapologist, a multi-site Escape Room provider, we worked closely with the team to identify pain points in their existing website  - both from a customer perspective and from an internal use perspective to inform the process for building their new website, taking into account all the areas they wanted to improve. Their existing site wasn’t user friendly and lacked an intuitive user journey. At the same time, the content management system was bloated and had many elements that were not required, whilst those that were needed were difficult and clunky to update or amend.

Improved User Experience

Identifying the key elements that would vastly improve the user experience, we meticulously developed a user-friendly customer journey through the website, ensuring seamless navigation and intuitive interaction at every step. Bringing forward engaging and easy to view content, and introducing clear Calls to Action at strategic points throughout the website, we developed a seamless route from perusal to purchase.

Content Management System (CMS) 

Understanding the multiple parameters and variables which would require regular updating, we developed a robust Content Management System that empowers The Escapologist team to effortlessly manage and update their content quickly. By coding the CMS with maximum flexibility in mind, we granted them the autonomy to make amendments and updates with ease, without the requirement for anyone to have HTML knowledge. Our CMS includes building modules with pre-defined style templates, allowing them to swiftly and efficiently customise the website's imagery and content pages while maintaining consistency in look and feel.

Order Tracking and API Integration 

As an e-commerce website, it’s imperative that the team can easily and accurately track and review orders. We integrated with a payment gateway which allows users to buy digital products and download the associated assets which is set to a one time per order restriction. The integration enables purchase history review and tracking of orders / monitoring of payment status. The system also generates branded invoices for print or emailing.

In addition to the payment gateway, the website also integrates with a third party API for the physical room bookings to ensure continuity of the seamless user experience.

Finally, as part of the process, we integrated an independent review platform into the website which updates daily and uploads any new reviews – a key part of transparency and communication for prospective users in their purchasing decision process.
