A vibrant, modern update to D.R.I. X-Ray Department

Having successfully delivered an interior design project for Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital's Trust previously, Keane were approached to put a proposal forward for a fresh, modern design to uplift the environment in the X-Ray department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

The team in the medical imaging department at the hospital had a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve through the wall art design - aside from the installation practicalities of meeting infection control protocols, the design needed to be eye catching and uplitfting, moving away from the 'sterile' feel to the department.

"We wanted a bright, welcoming feel to the X-Ray room for both patients and our colleagues alike. Historically, the department has, for obvious reasons, had a 'clinical' feel and whilst we want our patients to know they are in a clean and safe environment, we also want them to feel relaxed and give them an alternative focus"

Taking the brief, Keane designed a series of concepts to share with the team at D.R.I. From there, a preferred design was chosen and worked up to final artwork. Working in collaboration with SPJ for the large format print, site visits took place to refine the scope of the project and ensure that the final print would meet all the requirements of a clinical environment and would also look good in situ, taking into consideration the placement of the medical equipment and any impact this would have on the overall design.

"We love how the room and waiting area now feels fresh, bright and inviting. We're looking forward to welcoming our patients to the new room soon!"
