Interior Design
DBTH - Mexborough CDC
Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw General Hospital and Montague Hospital, Mexborough.
Where
they were
Montagu Hospital was developing a new CDC (Community Diagnostics Centre) with expanded diagnostic facilities to significantly increase the site’s capacity to undertake CT, MRI and Ultrasound scans and tests.
Where they
wanted to be
The aim was to create an environment that was warm, relaxing, and calming for patients, recognising that diagnostic imaging can be a worrying and stressful experience for many.
The
Result
A cohesive interior design solution that supports the functional needs of a busy diagnostic suite whilst promoting a welcoming, calming, and patient-centred atmosphere throughout. The design flows seamlessly across different areas of the centre and enhances the overall patient experience.
How we got there
Understanding the vision
Keane worked closely with the CDC team at Montagu Hospital, investing time in discovery and consultation to understand both the overall architectural vision for the building and the specific emotional and functional requirements of the new imaging suite. This ensured the designs met clinical needs whilst also supporting patient wellbeing.
Site visits and scope review
Throughout the design process, regular site visits were essential. These visits allowed the Keane team to review the full scope of work in situ and ensure that design concepts would align with the varied spaces, maintaining fluidity between different departments through subtle changes to colourways.
Concept development and refinement
Keane generated several initial design concepts through discussions with the hospital team. These were reviewed and refined into final artwork that embodied the desired calming, welcoming, and fluid aesthetic suitable for the patient-centred environment.
Partnering for quality execution
Once the final designs were approved, Keane collaborated with an experienced and trusted local large-format printer with whom they’ve worked on multiple projects to ensure that the quality of the wall art remained consistent from design through to final installation.
